NATURE'S HIGHWAY
The Sydenham River Corridor is one of the most beautiful and natural stretches of the river. It is a Carolinian Canada site.

A creek ravine and floodplain forest lying deep within the Sydenham River Corridor. |
This area is the home of many rare and endangered plant species like blue ash, pawpaw, Kentucky coffee tree, Virginia blue bells and green dragon. The eastern redback salamander makes its home in the corridor. It likes the habitat created by the rotting logs on the forest floor. The shy eastern spiny softshell turtle can be found in the isolated sunny spots along the river.
This area is called a corridor because it is a long, unbroken path between the river and forest. Wildlife use it as a passageway, the same way we use hallways to get from room to room.
